Fabian Scholarship recipient sets positive example for incarcerated women

Gina McConnell-Otten was a recipient of the Fabian Scholarship, which is explicitly targeted toward students who have been incarcerated, in its inaugural year. After serving a multi-year sentence for felony counts of drugs, forgery, possession of stolen property and identity theft, the 45-year-old AmeriCorps volunteer has turned her life around by giving back to her community, staying free of drugs and setting an example for others that there is a chance at a productive life after prison. Read more…
